Description
The Arpaderba B&B
is situated in a unique and
outstanding location overlooking the
Calafuria Natural Rerserve on the Etruscan Coast
south
Livorno in Tuscany.
The owners had been searching for a long time for an
accommodation in Tuscany where, on the one side they wanted to create
a Bed &
Breakfast and on the other their home. When
they visited for the first time this unique and
enchanting place with a ruin on the top, from where
one can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views over the
whole coast, the islands and the Tuscan landscape,
they knew that this was the place they were searching
for. After nearly three long years of painstaking
restoration works, today guests will find a friendly
family atmosphere.
The
owner-couple lives together with their two kids in one
part of the house, whereas in the other part are
available 6 charming rooms with bathroom, of which one
can be suitable also for wheelchair-users.
Each room is different from the other, furnished with
antiques, according to the Tuscan tradition. In the
centre of the ground floor rooms is situated the
multipurpose hall, with a nice panoramic view, where
in the morning is served breakfast. This hall can also
host musical events, meetings and other performances.
Through
the huge panorama window one accesses the onto
the terrace, offering a marvellous view of the coast and the surrounding landscape. Underneath the house is
situated the "Taverna" at complete disposal for
reacreational activities of the guests. Next to it,
the storeroom, where guests can leave their bikes. In
fact, this place invites to use the bike (that can be
rented also on the spot) and for trecking. It is
possible to start directly from the house, along the
paths of the Parco Naturale di Calafuria and to
arrive directly on the sea (ca. 4 km). Only 2 km away from the Bed & Breakfast, it is
possible to ride on horseback through the marvellous
nature.
In the small seaside resort
Quercianella (4 km) one can find everything for
everyday needs such as restaurants, shops, banks,
pharmacy, sports (swimming pool, tennis etc.) or make
any kind of water sports (e.g. canoe, sailing etc.).
The nearest golf course is just 10 km away. Livorno
(11 km), from where the ferries for the islands (Elba,
Gorgona, Capraia) cast off, can be reached in a quarter of an hour and it is possible to
reach in approximately half an hour by car Pisa (25
km). Also the other Tuscan art towns such as Lucca (ca. 55 km), Volterra
(ca. 80 km), Florence and San Gimignano (ca. 100 km)
as well as Siena (130 km), to name just a few, can be
reached for day trips.
Arpaderba, in English "The Grass Harp"
according to Truman Capote's novel, because here one
can only hear the sound of the grass created by the
wind...
