Agriturismo Bellavista - Farm - San Miniato - Pisa TuscanyThe Bio-Farm Bellavista rises on a hill that is part of the municipality of San Miniato, on the border of the Province of Pisa with the Province of Florence.
From this geographical position it is possible to enjoy an enchanting view over San Miniato and the typical Tuscan hills, covered with vineyards, olive groves and single farmhouses.
The centre of San Miniato is only 1.5 km from the farmhouse away, whereas Florence is about 35 km, Pisa 40 km and Siena 70 km. Nearby is worth visiting Empoli, famous for the glass arts, Montelupo Fiorentino, the ceramics town or Vinci birthplace of Leonardo da Vinci.

Agriturismo Bellavista - Farm - San Miniato - Pisa TuscanyThe coast, Volterra and San Gimignano are reachable within less than one hour by car. San Miniato was already an Etruscan settlement and later on, the town was populated by the Romans.
San Miniato was mentioned for the first time because of the construction of a church dedicated to the martyr San Miniato (783). Being geographically placed along the Via Francigena, San Miniato was the crossing point in the Arno valley between Florence and Pisa on the one side, as well as Lucca and Siena on the other side. Also other important towns in the middle ages like San Gimignano or Volterra were not far away.

San Miniato - Pisa TuscanyAll this let San Miniato become more important, until it became an independent commune. In 1662, San Miniato was conquered by Florence, but Cosimo de' Medici made of it bishop's see.
Although the subjugation to the Signoria (eng. signory) in Florence, San Miniato was able to grow until the Second World War, when a German mine destroyed the fortress of Frederick II and part of the medieval buildings. Even though there are still many traces of San Miniato's long history, visible in the remarkable artistic and cultural heritage. San Miniato is also known as town of the white truffle of the type Tuber Magnatum Pico.

Agriturismo Bellavista - The vinyardsThe truffle tradition dates back to the middle ages, but only at the beginning of the 20th century it was organized between some families, the "tartufai" (engl. truffle sellers).
For about 30 years, every year at the end of October/November, takes place the truffle fair ("Mostra Mercato Nazionale del Tartufo Bianco"), where it is not only possible to buy the truffle, but also taste the local truffle specialities. Tuscan olive oil with homemade pasta and wine make out of it unique dishes... Within this enchanting cultural and historical context are situated the 11 apartments of various sizes of the Agriturismo Bellavista.

Agriturismo Bellavista - The Swimming PoolThe antique farmhouse with attached oil press, wine cellars, the steward's house and about 50 ha of Chianti vineyards as well as olive-groves, has just been completely restored, creating a holiday residence with charm and every comfort.
At the guest's disposal there is also a lounge as well as a small farm shop, where all the farm products such as Chianti wine and olive oil are sold.
