Description
Casa Nova Vinci
is embedded within the green hills covered with olive trees between the small town of
Vinci and Leonardo da Vinci's birthplace at Anchiano in Tuscany. Vinci is situated between
Florence and Pisa, not far away from Pistoia,
Lucca and Siena, on the southern descendants of the
Monte Albano.
The
worldwide fame of the small town of
Vinci
dates back to Leonardo, who because he was born in
this commune, was called Leonardo da Vinci (engl.
Leonardo from Vinci). He was born
the 15th of April 1542
on a farm at Anchiano (1.5 km from Casa Nova) as son
of a notary. Quite early was discovered his great
talent. Until his death in 1519, he was known all over
Europe as a painter of works like "La Gioconda"
(Louvre, Paris) as well as engineer, architect and
scientist of anatomy, optics, hydraulics and the fluid
elements (fire, air, water). As part of the
municipality
of
Cerreto Guidi
,
during the Middle Ages, Vinci had a more or less
turbulent period. It was mentioned for the first time
in documents of the 11th century. Absolutely worth
seeing is the Castle of the Counts Conti Guidi, where
today is situated the museum dedicated to Leonardo (Museo
Leonardiano) with drawings and reconstructions of
the artist.
The
construction of the Renaissance building-complex Casa
Nova Vinci dates back to the 16th/17th
century. At that time it was a country villa with two
annexes, used as barn and hayloft. Today, in the villa
live the owners that converted the annexes into 3
holiday apartments.
The apartments are furnished in mixture of the typical
Tuscan country style and modern essentiality. The
country villa is surrounded by a well-kept park
with a beautiful swimming pool (jacuzzi).
From
here it is possible to enjoy an enchanting view
over the hills, entirely covered with olive
trees (of which already Leonardo was writing) and the skyline
of Vinci in the background.
In only 10 minutes on foot, it is possible to
reach Vinci and in about 15 minutes, the birthplace of
Leonardo before Anchiano. Also mountain bikers
will adore this hilly landscape with many routes
towards Monte Albano or Carmignano, where one can
enjoy the beauty of the Tuscan landscape.
Vinci
is in a quite central position to reach the most
important places of art and culture in
Tuscany
like
Florence
,
Pisa
,
Lucca
and
Pistoia
.
Within 15 minutes one can reach marvellous
Medici-Villas like at Artimino "La
Ferdinanda" and the most beautiful one
"Villa Medicea di Poggio a Caiano". In the
whole area there are many farms and wineries that
produce an excellent quality of wine and cold pressed
olive oil. Some of these local products and handmade
pieces can be purchased at our antique "wine
cellar".
Casa Nova Vinci offers the possibility to pass a holiday of relaxation with lots of culture and naturally the delicious cuisine in Tuscany.
