Description

The holiday apartments of Collerucci are situated about 4 km outside of Montaione, located south-west from Florence and bordering with the provinces of Pisa and Siena.
There are 4 apartments for 3 to 8 people available, furnished in the typical Tuscan country style with fireplace, solid wood furniture and wrought iron beds. Every apartment has its own outside space with garden furniture and barbecue. In the well-kept garden, underneath the house, the immense swimming pool  (13 x 6 m) with hydro massage and the possibility to swim against the stream.

Around the pool sun beds and sun chairs from where it is possible to enjoy a view of the rolling hills as far as the eye can see. In order to get protected from the sun, there is a wood roofing, also with chairs, banks and tables.
The next village with shops, pharmacy, post office, banks, bars and restaurant is Montaione (4 km). According to the numerous archaeological finds of this area, the village must have Etruscan origins. During the Middle Ages it was always in conflict with the independent communes around, such as San Miniato, San Gimignano and Volterra.

In the second half of the 15th century, Montaione passed under the dominion of Florence. What remains today from the medieval village is the small centre with the typical central piazza. The town wall was destroyed in great part at the end of World War II by the German troops. Places nearby are Gambassi Terme (8 km), renowned for the spas, Castelfalfi (10 km), antique hamlet with golf course of 18 holes and the medieval village of Certaldo, where the writer  Giovanni Boccaccio, author of "Il Decamerone" lived. Just 20 km away lies San Gimignano, whereas Volterra is 25 km away. The Chianti Classico area can be reached in approximately half an hour by car; Florence, Siena and Pisa can be reached in less than one hour by car.
