Art and Garden - Description

Art & Garden comprises seven well-cared apartments that are completely restored, situated in the beautiful countryside of the Maremma Toscana, between Siena and Grosseto, with enchanting views over the famous Montalcino vineyards and the slopes of Mount Amiata.

The apartments are situated in three different buildings, set on a hill with panoramic view, right next to the medieval castle Castello di Monte Antico and 1,5 km from the small village of Monte Antico, lying approximately half an hour from Grosseto, Siena and Montalcino. 
The Castello di Monte Antico is dating back to a period before year thousand as possession of the Tuscan noble family Ardengheschi. At the beginning of the 14th century it passed to the Buonsignori family who transformed the pre-existing fortress into a castle. At the end of the same century, Castello di Monte Antico passed to the Salimbeni family, followed by the Tolomei's.

Today, Castello di Monte Antico is arranged in an L-form around the characteristic internal courtyard with well and cistern underneath for rain water collecting.
Four of the Apartments (called Amaryllis 1-4) are situated inside of the antique stone farmhouse, once the castle's guardian house, surrounded by a well-kept garden, facing on one side the castle, whereas the others are watching over the countryside.
One apartment, La Casa del Borgo, is part of the castle, lying on the outer south side. From the windows one can enjoy a stunning view over the surrounding countryside.

Other two apartments (Giardino and Belvedere) are situated in the former church San Tommaso Apostolo (about 100 m from the other buildings),  entirely built in stone. In the past it was the castle's church.
Today, the church is deconsecrate, but continues telling of the over 1,000 years of history with each angle stories.
The former church is surrounded by a beautiful garden; it is expanding over two floors, each with huge apartment that can accommodate 4 persons.
The apartments are independent, but there is the possibility to rent them together, also with the former church, obtaining a unique complex.

The magnificent hall of the former church can be used with or withouth the apartments for courses, workshops, etc. 
There is in fact a total surface of 100 sq.m.
The church's hall can be used for activities such as for family or wedding receptions, business meetings, group tours, yoga and many other kinds of workshops.
For other activities such as theatre, music etc. there are autio systems, huge lights, screens, projector, tables, chairs, yoga materasses...., available. The hall can be heated during the winter months.
