Hotel Palazzo Mannaioni a charming 4-star hotel in the historic centre of Montaione, Province of Florence in Tuscany. The hotel is situated in a 16th century building along the walls in the center of Montaione, famous for the Castle of Montaione, a small medieval hamlet on top of a hill, a few kilometres from San Gimignano.
The hotel has two entries, one from Via Cresci, arriving through Montaione's historic centre the narrow alleys, passageways, and little squares where there are artisan shops and old houses with the characteristic flower-filled balconies. The second one is from Via Marconi, entering the hotel directly through the Castle’s walls.

Cenni Storici

Palazzo Mannaioni belonged once to one of the richest and the most powerful families of Montaione, the Mannaioni family. They are closely linked the town's history the 16th century on, as they played an important public role and were furthermore, masters in the art of glass-making. Naturally, they were als land owners and their motto was everything we can see till the horizon belongs to us.
With the foundation of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany, first with the Medici and then with the Lorena, the Walls of the Castle were no longer considered important because the danger of enemies was over. Therefore Palazzo Mannaioni changed in the 19th century into its present shape.

Palazzo Mannaioni Today

Today, the old elegant atmosphere remains unchanged, with the well recognized family coat of arms in the hall and the restored furniture; the decorated ceilings in the entry and the wonderful stone floor have also been maintained.
Within the Hotel, all the estate properties have been restored: the old granary, the oil-mill, and the cellar dug out from the gabbro rock. Nowadays, these places serve as the American Bar, Winery and the Restaurant De’ Mannaioni. The extraordinary ambience is enhanced by attention to every detail, giving guests an unforgettable staying.

The restaurant De’ Mannaioni has been created in the antique oil-mill, with an arched roof illuminated by a unique lighting system, and marvellous red-brick vaults.
The guest can try typical Tuscan recipes cooked with modern techniques, while respecting tradition. During high season the well-known Winery is opened, dug out from the cellar of the Palazzo Mannaioni with its original vaults where it is possible to taste excellent wines and organize lunches or reserved dinners. From the restaurant the guest has direct access to the garden and the swimming-pool, where the equipped pool bar staff prepare exclusive cocktails and quick snacks for guests who want to relax at the pool.

At Palazzo Mannaioni it is possible to organize gala dinners, business dinners, welcome cocktails or whatever business and holiday guests might need.
The hotel staff can organize for the guests also transfer from/to train stations or the main Italian airports or rent a car, ticket reservation at the most important museums in Florence, tours through the Chianti Classico or wine tastings....
Those guests, arriving by car, there is a free indoor parking available.

Part of the hotel are also two fully-equipped, high-tech meeting rooms with wireless internet connection: Sala Clemente with seats for 85 people, equipped with Video-projector, Flip-chart, Microphones and amplification system, Video-conferencing, Telephones, internet, Simultaneous translation room, Audio/video recording.
The smaller meeting room, Sala Lina, offers space for 16 people and is equipped with TV, telephone, wireless internet connection, Flip-chart and stationery.

What to do

Relax at the swimming pool, simply walk in Montaiones narrow, medieval alleys, play golf (18 whole golf course at nearby Castelfalfi), possibility to make long walks in the countryside, trekking, riding excursions, rent mountain bikes and discover the beautiful hilly landscape.
Only 3 km away is the spa resort Gambassi Terme, where hotel guests can make use for special rates of their services (relaxing massages, hydrotherapy, drainage massages, Ayurveda, Shiatsu, mud massages, sauna, light therapy, beauty treatments).
From Montaione, beeing in an ideal geographical position, you can visit the all the most beautiful palces over Tuscany: Florence, Pisa and Siena, the three provinces meeting in this area, the near San Gimignano, Certaldo, Vinci, San Miniato or Lucca.
