Description

Podere Il Poggiolo is situated in Tuscany within the Florentine hills overlooking Pontassieve, about 23 km south-east from Florence.

The whole area, just like the near town of Fiesole is covered with important archaeological sites. It is possible to discover them over the trekking paths that are around Podere Il Poggiolo.
Only 4 km from the farm away is situated Rufina with railway station, pharmacy, bank, supermarkets etc. Rufina is famous throughout the world for the wine of this area, the Chianti Rufina DOC. This area, also called Mugello Val di Sieve, because it starts in the Mugello along the Sieve river, is the ideal starting point to know the Mugello with places like Vicchio, Giotto's birthplace, Borgo S. Lorenzo and Scarperia.

Within a short time it is also possible to reach the other important Tuscan towns of cultural and artistic interest such as Arezzo, Siena, Lucca and Pisa.
Podere Il Poggiolo, composed of a main house and two annexes, is surrounded by 6 hectares of farmland, cultivated with vines, olive and fruit trees as well as rasperries and blackbarries. 
One day when Serena and her husband Alessandro came to this place, they fell immediately in love with it. Subsequently, they purchased the farm, starting with organic farming and offering farm holidays. 
Today, the whole production is biological and certified by the AIAB (abbr. for It. Association for Organic Farming). 

In the main house are living Serena and Alessandro with their son Vittorio, the nice boxer Chica and two cats (Amareno and Mosé). In the annexes are situated the 3 holiday apartments, tastefully furnished in the typical Tuscan country style with a touch of modern comfort. Every accommodation has its own outside space with table and chairs. 
Furthermore, there is a cosy lounge at the guest's disposal with fireplace and stereo/CD-player, where it is possible to organize dinners. 
Upon request, Serena prepares a typical Tuscan dinner composed of starter, first course, main course with vegetables and homemade dessert, everything naturally prepared, if possible, with the genuine farm products and homemade. 

On the farm Podere Il Poggiolo you can still taste the genuine farm wine, the sweet grape must during the vintage festival, the fruity fresh cold-pressed olive oil, vegetables and fruits that have been just cropped...
... all these are sensations of fresh and genuine products that today are nearly forgotten and which you can still taste and rediscover during your holiday on the farm Podere Il Poggiolo.
During the months of June and July, the harvest of blackbarries and rasperries, the guests can taste them just croppe or in the delicious jams and cakes prepared by Serena. In the garden there is a swimming pool of a size of 5x10,5 metres at the guest's disposal.
