The Park Hotel La Fenice is situated in the historic centre of the charming medieval village of Massa Marittima, about 20 km from the seaside, in the beautiful Maremma Tuscany. The hotel, with the standard of a four star hotel, is situated in a 19th century palazzo, in the Città Nuova quarter, in front of the medieval Sant'Agostino church.
At the guest's disposal are 18 tastefully furnished rooms and suites, all with luxury marble bath and a small kitchen hidden in a cupboard.

Guest rooms are subdivided over 3 upper floors and are called after important Tuscan places as well as some places in the neighbourhood. On the ground floor of the hotel is situated the elegant hall and the breakfast room.
On the back of the hotel is situated a well-kept, green garden with heated swimming pool, where, during the summer months it is possible having breakfast.
Renowned personalities have chosen this hotel, between those also Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, describing the hotel in foreword of Sibilla della Gherardesca's book La mia Toscana.
The growth of the picturescque Massa Marittima started around the year 1000, when the bishop's see was transferred from Populonia to Massa Marittima. Soon, the old city walls weren't enough for the people living there, thus in 1228 was planned the new town "Città Nuova", the area where also La Fenice Park Hotel is situated.

Massa Marittima had its greatest splendour around the 13th and 14th century, the period in which were also built the most important monuments, such as the San Cerbone cathedral. In the 13th century, the town became the title of a city-state with their own minted coins, the so called grosso massetano. Even today, Massa Marittima exerts a great fascination to the visitors. Starting from the hotel, walking through these antique lanes to finally reach the marvellous Piazza, crowned by the cathedral. There are several excellent restaurants and trattorias with typical, local cuisine, wine bars where it is possible to taste wine and other products, cafes, artisan shops...

Each year, during the summer months, Massa Marittima invites with several events such as the open-air festival Lirica In Piazza, the medieval crossbow competition Balestro Del Girifalco, to name just the most important ones.
One can enjoy unique panorams of the countryside underneath, until the sea that can be reached in an quarter of an hour by car.
Some interesting places to visit in the neighbourhood can be Scarlino (21 km), the abbey without roof Abbazia di San Galgano (ca. 33 km), the charming seaside resort Castiglione della Pescaia (45 km) or all the other famous places in Tuscany such as Volterra (65 km), Siena (ca. 70 km), Pisa (ca. 115 km) and Florence (ca. 123 km).
