The
Rooms
The
Bed & Breakfast is situated in the historic
centre of
San Quirico d'Orcia, in
the Orcia Valley in Tuscany. It is
composed of two historical palazzoes situated right in
front of the collegiate church and Palazzo Chigi.
Inside of one of the two palazzoes is the so called "Casa Lemmi"
with 6 rooms and suites, of which 2 double rooms, 1
junior suite and 3 suites, called after their use in
the past.
The
rooms are facing inside a great staircase of
Romanesque origins that has been several times changed
until its actual aspect, dating back to the 19th
century. The staircase is projected towards a bright,
sunny dome that from the outside seems as if it
was a secret eye above the monuments of San Quirico d'Orcia
and the Orcia Valley.
On the first floor are situated the suites Il Granaio,
very spacious, with comfortable sofas and windows
watching the green of the Orcia Valley with the Amiata
mount in the background.
On
the other side of the building, with view over the
collegiata church and Palazzo Chigi, is situated the
suite Oliaia, composed of a studio, corridor
connecting bedroom and bathroom. Next to the suite is
situated the spacious room
Stanza del Fattore. On the second floor are
situated two other rooms, called Stanza del Vino
facing the collegiata church and Palazzo Chigi as well
as the suite Caciaia that is facing the red
tiled terracotta roofs and the panorama of the Orcia
Valley with Mount Amiata in the background. In the
huge mansard is situated the so called suite Stanza
del Vinsanto.
Adiacent
to Casa Lemmi and also connected inside, is Palazzo Lemmi,
where are still living the owners. Inside are situated
two more suites and a double room. The two suites,
called Imperial and Collegiata are
facing the collegiata church, whereas the double rooms
is facing the courtyard.
The Imperial suite has a small balcony directly
above the collegiata church and an antique fireplace
made of travertine marble in the same Romanesque-gotic
style of the collegiata in front. The suite takes its
name from Frederic I, also known as Barbarossa,
who slept there.
The
Collegiata suite has nearly an air view over
the collegiata church and Palazzo Chigi, giving the
impression as if one is flying above these monuments.
The double room, viewing directly Mount Amiata, has
been called Azzurra (engl. sky-blue room),
because of the blue sky around the amiata on sunny
days.
Rooms and suites are all very spacious and each is
different from the other in furnishings and décors,
most family properties dating back to the 19th century,
but what they have in common is that they are equipped
with all mods and cons: telephone, mini-bar,, safe,
satellite TV, internet connection, bath with shower or
tub, hairdryer, heating, air conditioning. A rich
breakfast is served in the morning or in the nice
courtyard (summer months) or within the so called Sala Normanna
right in front of the collegiata portal.
