Description
The
B&B offers in the historic centre of
San Quirico d'Orcia in
Tuscany, charming rooms with view that have been
recently restored and enriched with work of art. It is
situated right in the piazza in front of the
Collegiata Church and Palazzo Chigi.
The building, of Norman origins, also once the refuge
of the Knights Templar, Imperial residence, guest
house, convent, fortified house, has been for at least
three hundred years, the home of big landowners of the
Orcia Valley. Inside, in one wing of the building,
once used for agricultural purposes, there are now
most of the guest rooms.
All
rooms and suites have been completely and very
tastefully restructured, becoming artistic rooms with
unique works of art and antiques.
Modern and technological facilities (telephone,
minibar, satellite-TV, air conditioning, internet
connection etc.) were skillfully combined with the
medieval atmosphere which it retains, making this a
special place for residents who want to be away from
the crowd.
Through
the window, the guest's eye is first attracted by the
twelfth century Collegiata Church and then by the view
of Mount Amiata which dominates one side of the Val
D'Orcia - recently World Heritage listed by UNESCO -
and on the other side, towards the Maremma and the sea.
In the morning is waiting a rich breakfast buffet for
the guests that will be served during the summer
months inside of the characteristic courtyard or in
the winter months or if the weather is not permitting,
within the Sala Normanna right in front of the
west portal of the Collegiata Church.
In
the narrow and very characteristic alleys of San Quirico d'Orcia
there are small shops/boutiques as well as very good
restaurants/trattorias and bars.
Guests can park their car nearby and will get through
the accommodation a special permission to access the
historic centre.
Nearby there are several possibilities to visit more
or less know places of cultural, historical or
artistic interest: Pienza and Bagno Vignoni (ca. 5 min.), Montalcino (ca. 10-15 min.),
Montepulciano (ca. 20 min.), Monte Amiata (ca. 30 min.),
Siena (ca. 30 min.), Florence (ca. 1 h).
