Description

The farm Agriturismo San Domenico is situated in Maremma Tuscany, about 25 km from the sea, in the so called metalliferous hills, underneath the sanctuary  Madonna del Frassine.
There are two antique farmhouses that have been skilfully restored and are part of over 20 hectares of farmland. At guest's disposal are 7 apartments of different size (for two up to eight people), equipped with all modern comforts such as heating, telephone and satellite TV and are tastefully furnished in the typical Tuscan countrystile.

All apartments have a fully equipped outside space. There is one apartment (no. 5) suitable to drive inside with a wheelchair. This apartment does also have one bathroom, suitable for wheelchair users.
Around the houses, a huge park and a nice enclosed swimming pool area, a children's playground as well as a football- and volleyball field for kids. Furthermore are available a wood oven and a barbecue.

On request guests can make use of the nice lounge, equipped with a small kitchen corner, a sitting area with fireplace as well as a huge dining table.
Because of the distance to streets and houses,  Agriturismo San Domenico is the ideal place to find peace and relaxation, both for couples and families. It is possible to make long walks in the wood behind the house or to visit the sanctuary at Frassine, just a few hundred metres bee-line away. It is said that the saints Cerbone and Regolo escaped around the year 500 from persecution with the madonna from North Africa.

They reached with their ship Populonia and followed then the course of the river Cornia, until reaching the wood of Frassine.
The statue was then preserved until the distruction in the at the 13th century, in the monastry S. Pietro Palazzuolo. A monk buried the statue between the roots of an ash tree (it. frassino), where it was found about a century later. Around this ash tree was then built th chapel and therefore the name Santuario della Madonna del Frassine. Those who love to go by bike can drive along the curvy roads or with the mountain bikes in the woods.

From the farm it is worth visiting the small villages nearby with their village festivals, such as Monteverdi Marittimo (12 km) small hilltop village, Suvereto (12 km) with charming historic centre and famous for the excellent wine as well as the wild boar festival, the sagra del cinghiale, taking place each year at the end of November/beginning of December, the small village Campiglia Marittima (22 km), Massa Marittima (30 km) with enchanting historic centre and the medieval commemoration Balestro del Girifalco as well as the Etruscan excavations on the beautiful coast of nearby Populonia (30 km). From the farm it is possible to reach the sea in approximately 30 minutes by car. Naturally it is possible to visit all the famous places of artistic and historic interest in Tuscany.
