Description

The holiday accommodations Il Vecchio Mulino are situated in the metalliferous hills of Radicondoli, between the provinces of Siena, Grosseto and Pisa. 

One part of the accommodation are 5 holiday apartments with swimming pool, garden and outside space, in the country side, about 1 km from the charming medieval village Belforte (bar, restaurant, pizzeria, grocer's shop) and 6 km from Radicondoli away, towards Grosseto. The other part of the accommodation is an independent villa with swimming pool just a few metres from the fortress of Radicondoli, from where one can admire a marvellous view over the Val d'Elsa until S. Gimignano. As the villa is completely independent, it is the ideal holiday accommodation for one single family.
The small historical village Radicondoli is set on the top of a hill, which views the whole surrounding countryside: the Val d'Elsa on the one side and the Val di Cecina on the other. 

The origins of Radicondoli ly in the construction of the fortress, in the beginning of the 13th century. In 1216, it became feud of the powerful family Aldobraneschi and in the beginning of the 14th century, it was captured again by the Sienese. Most part of the city walls and of the towers, which were surrounding the village, were destroyed by the Medici. The narrow alleys are hiding typical Tuscan craftmen's acitivities and nearly at the end of every alley, it is possible to enjoy a marvellous panorama. This fertile area, which is extending until reaching Colle di Val d'Elsa, was the ideal place for agriculture and sheep farming, which were also the main acitivities during the middle ages.

Within short time it is possible to reach Siena, San Gimignano, Monteriggioni, the Abbey of San Galgano with the mystery of the sword in the rock, Massa Marittima as well as the famous villages of the Chianti Classico area. Other places like Florence, Volterra and the coast of the Maremma can be reached within one hour by car. 
Those who love nature, can go on foot, by bike or on horseback on the numerous trekking routes. Upon request it is possible to book the guided excursions or the participation of a daily excursion with the canoe, various courses (cooking, candle ecc.).
