Description
Villa
La Piastraia is situated in Maremma Tuscany,
about 700 m from the medieval village Suvereto
and about 20 minutes from the sea of the Etruscan
Riviera. Already approaching Suvereto, one can
see above the village, on a hill covered with olive
trees and cypresses, an elegant, terracotta-coloured
villa: this is Villa La Piastraia, dating
back to the 18th century and taking the name from
the land on which it is located. Today, just after
the restructuring works it has turned into an elegant
villa, offering space for 5 up to 6 people.
It has been created a very refined and cosy
ambience, ideal for those longing for tranquillity,
relax and comfort.
Around
the villa, a nice, rocky and lovely cared garden of
400 sq.m. in which is also situated the pool with
hydromassage and water falls, like a balcony over the
Val di Cornia, the sea with the island
of Elba in front. Nei giorni molto limpidi si può vedere
perfino l'Isola
di Monte Cristo.
In the garden, there are typical Mediterranean plants
such as cypresses, olive trees, pine
trees, lemon trees, palms as well as
cactusses of different kind and size that
thanks to the position towards the sea, they can enjoy
whole year round many hours of sun and of a particular
microclimate. In the garden, there are several angles,
thus as the "belvedere" with a bank, from where one
can enjoy unforgettable sunsets over the sea, and
there are also two fish ponds. In front of the house,
a terrace with table and chairs for outside eating and
a barbecue.
History
The
house is embedded between olive groves of the working
farm "Pazzagli Orlando" that produces
one of the best extravirgin olive oils of the area.
The Pazzagli Orlando farm started already centuries
ago to produce together with the activity cereal production,
mainly olive oil. This is also certified by antique
documents, dating back to the 18th century, that were
found at the house of the Pazzagli family.
Initially, the family was living in the small village
Belvedere, only a few kilometres from Suvereto away.
At the end of the 19th century, they purchased the
house in the historic centre of Suvereto, where even
today are living Orlando and his wife Patrizia. Orlando's
granfather purchased in the course of the years lots
of land and he was paying already during these times
great attention to innovation.
In
fact, they had already several modern machines, trying
always to improve quality and with this also professionalism.
Villa La Piastraia is surrounded by
most of the farm olive groves.
Until the restoration works, there has never ever
been a great intervention. Orlando and Patrizia
have chosen with great care mainly natural materials,
from the colours of the front and inside that have
been prepared with organic substances, exactly as
the were prepared centuries ago.
Therefore, the colour of the façade changes with the
weather: during wet and rainy days, it becomes a very
intense dark terracotta colour, whereas on dry and
sunny days it becomes a very soft, earthy tone.
For
the inside the two chose also natural materials such
as stone and marble for the pavements in the living
area and for the bathrooms that have been skilfully
decorated with mosaics by an artist. For the sleeping
area and for the wooden staircase that is connecting
the ground floor with the two upper floors was chosen
the warm chestnut wood. The wood was not treated with
chemicals and is therefore exhaling a pleasant parfume.
The nearness of only 700 m to the next village and of
only 20 minutes to the sea, makes it possible to enjoy
a pleasant stay between the beauty of the Tuscan
countryside and the sea...
